話說歷史上唐室不綱，黃巢起事，天下分崩，生靈塗炭。 接下來是五代不斷，奸佞是尚，仁義喪亡，四維既不能修，傳國又何能久？其間稍 可稱者，唐明宗後，如周太祖亦頗多善政，然皆莫能贖其前愆，是以未再傳而絕滅 。若於黃袍加體，眾呼萬歲之時，即不知如張益州之下馬同呼，豈不知以死自誓， 殺身成仁，流芳百世，豈不美於千古同稱篡逆乎！況左右皆是腹心，以綱常大義， 再三開導，豈有不依，又何至於死！如憂主弱將悍，神器終屬他人，則何不權時攝 行，而以法削鏟首亂者，仍復辟於主乎？初既不能以死辭，後又不能以權復，則是 宿謀可知。何期轉眼虛花，未數年，即有宋太祖葫蘆依樣。宋太祖既忍背世宗，宋 太宗又何必不忍背太祖？承祧之用異姓，二王之不得其死，天網何常疏漏哉！皆由 廢棄仁義、狙詐成風之所致也。
