Meditationes de prima philosophia   By: (1596-1650)

Book cover

Meditationes de prima philosophia by René Descartes is a thought-provoking work that challenges readers to delve deeper into their understanding of reality and existence. Through a series of meditations, Descartes explores the nature of knowledge, the existence of God, and the relationship between mind and body.

One of the most striking aspects of this book is Descartes' use of doubt as a tool for philosophical inquiry. By questioning the validity of his senses and beliefs, Descartes ultimately arrives at the famous conclusion, "Cogito, ergo sum" ("I think, therefore I am"), which serves as the foundation for his entire philosophical system.

Although some may find Descartes' arguments to be abstract and difficult to follow, his rigorous approach to philosophy and logical reasoning make Meditationes de prima philosophia a challenging but rewarding read for those interested in delving into the complexities of epistemology and metaphysics.

Overall, Descartes' Meditationes de prima philosophia is a timeless work that continues to provoke thought and discussion on the nature of reality and our place within it.

MEDITATIONES de prima philosophia

Curavit Artur Buchenau

Lipsiae 1913 Sumptibus Felicis Meineri

Druck: C. Grumbach, Leipzig

Continue reading book >>
