By: (1866-1946)

"Time Machine (Version 7)" by H. G. Wells is a classic science fiction novel that explores the possibilities and consequences of time travel. The protagonist, known only as the Time Traveler, invents a machine that allows him to journey through time, taking him millions of years into the future. What he discovers is a world drastically changed, where humanity has evolved into two distinct species - the peaceful Eloi and the savage Morlocks.

Wells' imagination and thought-provoking ideas make this novel a compelling read. The descriptions of the future world are both fascinating and terrifying, painting a picture of a society that has lost the foundations of civilization. The Time Traveler's interactions with the Eloi and Morlocks raise questions about the nature of humanity and the potential consequences of social and technological advancement.

While some aspects of the novel may feel dated, the themes and messages are still relevant today. Wells' exploration of class division, societal decay, and the impact of technology on humanity resonates with readers of all ages. The Time Traveler's journey serves as a cautionary tale, urging us to consider the long-term effects of our actions and decisions.

Overall, "Time Machine (Version 7)" is a thought-provoking and engaging read that has stood the test of time. Wells' storytelling and imagination make this a timeless classic that continues to captivate and inspire readers.

Book Description:
The story follows a Victorian scientist, who claims that he has invented a device that enables him to travel through time, and has visited the future. There, he finds the human species has “evolved” into two distinct forms. Above ground live the Eloi—gentle, fairy-like, childish creatures, whose existence appears to be free of struggle. However, another race of beings exists—the Morlocks, underground dwellers who, once subservient, now prey on the feeble, defenseless Eloi. - Summary by Cliff Stone

I’ve read this book at least five times. Hearing it read aloud to me was a treat. I wish however that there had been only one reader. The first was best. The two following readers had a different rhythm that distracted me at times and their occasional mispronunciation of several words made me cringe. Otherwise, I loved it.

Love it! Wish they had kept the first guy, I could listen to him read an auto repair book! He's wonderful! The rest were good too but I was slightly crestfallen when I realized reader #1 wasn't doing the whole book.
