By: (1811-1863)

Vanity Fair by William Makepeace Thackeray is a timeless classic that delves into the intricacies of society, its vices, and virtues. The novel follows the lives of two women, Becky Sharp and Amelia Sedley, as they navigate the world of high society in 19th century England.

Thackeray's satirical wit shines throughout the novel, as he expertly dissects the superficiality and greed that often characterize the upper classes. The characters are richly drawn and complex, with Becky Sharp standing out as a particularly memorable and cunning anti-heroine.

The novel's exploration of class, ambition, and morality remains relevant to this day, making Vanity Fair a compelling read for contemporary audiences. Thackeray's keen observations and sharp commentary make this novel a must-read for anyone interested in social commentary and classic literature.

Book Description:
One of the great Victorian novels by an author at the height of his powers, Vanity Fair follows the fortunes of the calculating, upwardly-mobile Becky Sharp and her gentle, good-hearted friend Amelia Sedley as they leave their boarding school and embark upon their lives in Vanity Fair – the social climbing, wealth-obsessed world of Regency England in the time of the Napoleonic Wars. - Summary by Helen Taylor

Subject: loooong
A very tedious and long book! The readers are generally good with a few very annoying. Very glad when villains and idiots die off and quite a few of both.
