Through his vivid descriptions and deep appreciation for the region's history and culture, Baring-Gould transports readers to the heart of troubadour country.

One of the most commendable aspects of the book is the author's extensive knowledge of the troubadour tradition and his ability to convey it with passion and enthusiasm. Baring-Gould expertly weaves together anecdotes, historical facts, and legends surrounding the troubadours, providing a comprehensive understanding of their influence on the region's cultural heritage. While the author's passion for the troubadours and the region is evident, some readers may find the book occasionally meandering or overly detailed. Nevertheless, these minor shortcomings do not detract significantly from the overall enjoyment of the reading experience.

Baring-Gould provides an enlightening exploration of the troubadour tradition and its enduring impact on the regions of Provence and Languedoc.
