Des arbres énormes tombés sur le ravin servent de pont aux Arabes, et aussi aux lianes qui s'enroulent aux troncs morts et les parent d'une vie nouvelle. Il y a des creux, et des plis inconnus de montagne, d'une beauté terrifiante, et des bords de ruisselets, plats et couverts de lauriers roses, d'une inimaginable grâce. Mais ce qui m'a laissé au coeur les plus chers souvenirs en cette excursion, ce sont les marches de l'après midi le long des chemins un peu boisés sur ces ondulations des côtes d'où l'on domine un immense pays onduleux et roux depuis la mer bleuâtre jusqu'à la chaîne de l'Ouarsenis qui porte sur ses faîtes la forêt de cèdres de Teniet el Haad...
