Stephen Oliver grew up in Brooklyn west, and was educated at Marist Brothers, Newtown and St Patrick’s College, Cambridge Terrace, Wellington. He subsequently completed a one year diploma course in magazine journalism at Wellington Polytechnic. He has lived in Paris, Vienna, London, San Francisco, Greece and Israel, where he signed on with ‘The Voice of Peace’ radio ship broadcasting in the Mediterranean out of Jaffa. He has worked throughout New Zealand and Australia as a freelance production voice, newsreader, broadcaster, journalist, copy and features writer. Night of Warehouses: New and Selected Poems 1978 2000 is his sixth volume of poetry and spans two decades. Stephen Oliver is a transtasman poet based in Sydney.
