The book begins by establishing the historical context of the conquest, providing a deeper understanding of the motivations and aspirations of the Spanish conquerors. Sancho's extensive research and meticulous attention to detail are evident throughout the text, as he paints a vivid picture of the social, political, and cultural landscape of both the Inca Empire and the Spanish expedition.

One of the book's key strengths is its balanced perspective. Sancho skillfully incorporates both the Spanish and Inca viewpoints, giving readers a comprehensive account of the conquest from multiple angles. He explores the complex dynamics between the conquerors and the conquered, shedding light on the tactics employed by both sides and the power plays that shaped the outcome of the conflict.
