Book Description:

Padre Antônio Vieira was a Portuguese Jesuit – but more than a clergyman, he was a brilliant writer and an influential character in the politics of the 19th century. He spent part of his life in Brazil and part in Portugal, and left an abundant and complex oeuvre in baroque style. In both his sermons and private letters, he showed mastery of Ancient Literature (with marked influences of Cicero and Seneca), Christian writings and Philosophy. Here we present a collection of some of his most famous sermons.
